ImgPrompt comes with free credits built in — works out of the box. When your free credits run out, you can configure your own API Key to keep using it. This guide walks you through the setup step by step.
Step 1: Enable the Custom API Toggle
- Click the ImgPrompt icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel
- Find the Custom API section and turn on the toggle
- You will see the provider quick-setup tabs and configuration inputs
Step 2: Choose an API Provider
Click a provider tab — the endpoint and model name will be auto-filled. You only need to paste your API Key.
Currently supported providers:
Google Gemini (Recommended for beginners, generous free tier)
- Endpoint:
https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/v1beta/openai/chat/completions
- Default model:
gemini-2.5-flash
- Get Key: https://aistudio.google.com/apikey
- Cost: Free tier available, sufficient for daily use
How to get a Key:
- Open Google AI Studio (link above) and sign in with your Google account
- Click Create API Key
- Copy the generated Key (starts with
AIza) and paste it into the plugin's API Key input
